Ahead of the yearly celebration of the highly significant Ipakodo’s day, stakeholders from the axis officially unveiled the Ankara for year 2025 Ipakodo’s day celebration.
Newsconnect gathered that the unveiling of the ANKARA took place at the palace of his Royal Highness Oba Bashir Aremu Shotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo kingdom.
According to the organisers, 6-Yards of the Ankara fabric is available for six thousand Naira.
Omoba Olasunkanmi Aremuade Shotonwa, the Chairman of Ipakodo Development Association who doubles as the organiser of 2025 Ipakodo day told journalists at the event that this year’s celebration is going to be different.
”We used to conduct the celebration for six days but now it is going to hold for eight consecutive days. ‘Woro’ Day has been shifted to Saturday for every indigene and resident to participate effectively”. He said.
His Royal Majesty Oba Engr. Bashir Aremu Shotonwa in his welcome salvo at the unveiling of Ankara Fabric urged the people of Ipakodo and Ikorodu-West LCDA to actively participate in this year’s edition.
Kabiyesi said throughout the celebration of Ipakodo Day, the Ankara fabrics should be seen and worn by all the residents, stakeholders in Ipakodo towards promoting the day.
Professor Kunle Ade Wahab posited in an interview with journalists that Ipakodo is a very ancient time. He said water transportation was the mode of travels from different parts of the country, different parts of the state, and different parts of the community.
“That is one of the major things that make this town popular from East, West anywhere. If you want to come to Ikorodu where we belong also, Ipakodo is a major point to reckon with.
“If you want to go outside this town, wherever village or ward you come from, Ipakodo is a landmark and that’s why the importance of Ikorodu at the time was enhanced because of Ipakodo town and still remains up till today”. He said
