Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has extoled the outgoing administration of Mayor Dele Oshinowo, Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), for the successful completion and commissioning of the state-of-the-art Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building.
Newsconnect reports that Sanwo-olu described the project as a testament to visionary grassroots leadership and a symbol of enduring community development.
In his welcome salvo at the auspicious event, Governor Sanwo-Olu eulogised the leadership style of Mayor Dele Oshinowo and lauded the outgoing administration for delivering legacy projects that have uplifted the lives of residents.
He further acknowledged the collaborative efforts of past and present leaders in the area, noting that such unity and continuity are essential for progress at the grassroots.
Residents in attendance expressed joy at the new facility, describing it as a much-needed investment in the community’s future. With the new multipurpose building now open, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA takes another bold step forward in bridging infrastructure gaps and fostering participatory governance.
As Governor Sanwo-Olu declared the building officially open, he reiterated his administration’s support for local governments, encouraging continuous collaboration to deliver the dividends of democracy to all corners of Lagos. “This project represents more than bricks and mortar. It embodies vision, consistency, and community trust, it is twice as commendable because the Chairman did not only initiate it but ensured its completion,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He expressed satisfaction that the incoming Chairman, Hon. (Mrs.) Abubakar Adetola Adunni, has shown appreciation for the work of her predecessor and has pledged to build upon the foundation laid, describing this as a model for leadership transition and sustainable development.
“Leadership is about continuity. It gives me joy that Hon. Adunni is not just taking over but embracing the responsibility to make this legacy even greater,” the Governor added.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo, visibly moved by the turnout and support, welcomed guests and described the commissioning as a moment of reflection and gratitude. “Today is not just about opening a building; it is about celebrating what we have achieved together over the years. From youth empowerment to housing and infrastructural development, we have tried to touch every facet of our people’s lives,” he said.
The multipurpose building, named after Otunba Bushura Alebiosu, a revered leader in the community, is equipped with office spaces, event halls, training rooms, and recreational facilities. It is intended to serve as a resource center for both governance and grassroots development activities.
Chairman-elect, Hon. (Mrs.) Abubakar Adetola Adunni, in her remarks, assured the community of her commitment to continuing from where the outgoing chairman stopped. “We are not starting from scratch. Mayor Dele Oshinowo has done a lot. My administration will focus on further inclusion, especially of our youth, women, and marginalized groups. We will ensure this building serves all,” she said.
Hon. Dayo Alebiosu, in his goodwill message, thanked the Governor, the council leadership, and the community for their support and unity in delivering the project. “This is what governance should look like – purposeful, inclusive, and impactful,” he noted.
The event also featured commendations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) LGA Leader, who appreciated Mayor Oshinowo and the entire project team for their commitment to excellence and people-centered development.
