The collection of issues and challenges bedeviling the maritime industry for not performing optimally as expected were not only identified at the 2025 conference organized by Association of Maritime Journalists AMJON of Nigeria, solutions were also proffered by stakeholders who spoke at the event.

Newsconnect reports that issues reating to shipping, training, pollution control and environmental control among others were discussed by stakeholders at the event.

AMJON collaborated with NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited to draft action plan for stakeholders through the conference.

The President of AMJON Kelvin Kagbary in an interview with journalists at the event said the Maritime industry is alive and it is the heart of this economy. Hence, if there are issues, stakeholders should organise to talk it out.

“If you look at the theme, you would know that it is a collection of all the issues in the industry. From Shipping to training to pollution control and environmental control and all that.

“The thought of addressing these issues informed the theme, an am sure it is timely and very appropriate at this time.

“We need to come like this to talk so that we proffer solutions to those kind of issues, so the industries will continue to move forward”. He said .

The Principal Manager, C&SC Nigeria Port Authority Hajia Hadiza Usman said as much as it is important to sit and point out at the achievement of Nigeria Port Authority, as a goodwill message, the Nigeria Port Authority is proud to associate with the Association of Maritime Journalist.

“We have our total support, we will continue to support you, from whatever angle it is. Our doors are open to you. We are your brothers in the maritime industry and we will continue to be by the special grace of God.

“We thank you so much for the honor you have given us, we look forward for more seamless relationship”. She said.

The Academic image Manager of Maritime Academy of Nigeria spoke on the topic “Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Securing the future, Through Manpower Excellence in the Industry”.

On behalf of her boss, she appreciated the contribution of the media to the academy and also took participants down memory lane to show how the academy has been supporting the industry.

“Because human capacity is the bedrock of Maritime Development, our quality policy statement is tailored towards ensuring a steady supply of competent and competitive Maritime professionals for Nigeria and beyond.

“At the academy we offer a world class maritime education through our facilities”. She said
