In his benevolence and love for improved access to education within his community, Lagos and Nigeria at large, Senator Kinglsey Adeseye Ogunlewe on his 81st Birthday in December 6, 2024 gifted modified science past questions textbooks to ten schools in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.

Newsconnect reports that the celebrant Ogunlewe said the Intervention on his birthday is necessary because there are no minerals, factories in his community, hence the only thing one can do is to teach the children to be very good in academics, in engineering, and in medicine so that they can now impact the community in the future.

Senator Ogunlewe in an interview with Newsconnect at his 81st Birthday celebration with students in Igbogbo said:

“I want all the schools in this community to score 100 percent in their waec and JAMB exams and they promised me they will do so.

“We have to develop a knowledge based economy. Our economy in this LCDA is not buoyant. There is no minerals, there are no factories. The only thing you can do is to teach your children to be very good in academics, in engineering, and in medicine so that they can now impact the community in the future, that is my plan for them.

“I have a feel for students who are not part of us. So I bought books and presented them to all the schools about ten schools. So that the teachers can go back and teach them.

“I am not too happy at all about the level of our education. We have 22 model colleges in Lagos State. We have four in Ikorodu Division.

“There is no opportunity for our children in the public primary schools to have access to computer, as a result of this, they can’t participate in the common entrance examinations to all these model colleges.

“So it is outsiders and those who are in private schools that are predominant in our model colleges which is not pleasing to me. I want more students from our Public schools have access to model colleges. For them to be able to do so, we must provide them with basic tools which is computer based training so that they can excel in their examinations.

“What Ikorodu is known for in all over the federation is the best Education. The best educationist in Nigeria, in Africa are from Ikorodu. Talk of the Benson, talk of the Odesanya, the Awojobi’s , Professor Onibe, Professor Lawal, Professor Wahab, we must be able to build more professors .

“It is by catching them young, when they are in primary school. To teach them how to study science, technology, innovation and that is where the world is moving.

“I will prevail whoever is going to be the Chairman, let it be your priority. We don’t have land for Agriculture, we have Odoguyan industrial estate but we need trained hands to work in this factoriy. So we must train our children for the future and there is no other way to do so.

“A mechanic is now proud to send his child to private schools. Before in Nigeria, only people who went to public schools were the outstanding students. If you went to private schools, you are nothing.

“But things are changing. Everybody is shifting towards private schools, it is not good for our country. Public schools should be the best, because they are more cheaper, more reliable.

“We have more teachers there, because the teachers have career. We must return to public schools. The development of public schools include the training of teachers. If you don’t train them the modern way of teaching stem education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology they can’t not impact enough knowledge on these children.

“They should be trained all over the world. Teachers are the best paid because that is the foundation. They must train the teachers, they must pay them more. They must build staff quarters for them in all our secondary schools so as to attract more people on the teaching line.

“They must prepare for their future and it is now. They don’t have any opportunity than now. The exam is in may, if they close their eyes and read , no distraction before May, they must have improved and ready for the exams”. Senator Ogunleye expressed.

A student from Oreyo Senior grammar school Apata Moyinoluwa Dorcas in an interview with Newsconnect at the event shared her feelings and how the book would impact her school .b

“I feel so glad about it. Apart from we students, the teachers are going to use the book to teach those of us that do not have textbooks.

“There are a lot of students who don’t have privilege to buy textbooks, so I feel with that textbooks, they will be able to impact on other students lives and they will teach them.

“The teachers can bring it to class to teach us and give us some class work on it.

“I wish the celebrant a very happy birthday and I want him to do more and I say a very big thank you to him on behalf of Oreyo Senior grammar school”. She said

A Biology teacher from Lagos Model Senior College Agunfoye in Ikorodu .

I know the book is Physics, Chemistry, Biology past questions and it will help them to prepare ahead of difficult questions they will meet in future. I want to say a very big thank you to the celebrant and the organisers. God in his infinite mercy will bless and enrich them”.

A former Vice-chairman in Ikorodu West LCDA from 2017-2021, Honourable Gabriel Olusesan Dada in an interview with Newsconnect talked about the celebrant and shared his word of admonition to the elder statesman .
