A 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, met his untimely demise after falling into an abandoned well in CBN Quarters on Hadejia Road, Kano Metropolis, leaving residents in deep shock.

The Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, verified  this  tragic incident while speaking  to Journalist on   Saturday night.

He revealed that the victim was driving a car belonging to the Defence Minister’s first wife and had just dropped off guests at a nearby residence when he stepped out to urinate, unknowingly approaching an abandoned well and debris.

According to Saminu, the well’s cover collapsed, resulting in Uku’s accidental slip into the abandoned well, which sadly ended in his fatal death.

The Public Relations Officer revealed that the state fire service, under the leadership of Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, swiftly responded to the distress call and deployed its rescue team to the scene of the tragedy within a remarkably short 15 minutes.

“Unfortunately, the victim who  was rescued unconscious was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Sir Sunusi Hospital.”

“The body was subsequently handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation,” Saminu added.
