Relief is finally knocking for weary residents of Ikorodu central local government development area as Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson launches the long-awaited reconstruction of the 1.7-kilometre abandoned Ikorodu Kokoro-Abu Road.
The vital artery, linking Grammar School, Itamaga, Ota Ona, Ladega Market, and the ever-busy Ikorodu-Sabo corridor, has for years been a nightmare for commuters.

Benson, who led local leaders on an inspection tour last Friday, announced that construction would begin within weeks and be completed in just five months.
He was flanked by Ikorodu LG boss, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, Ikorodu North LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, as well as Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahya Oshoala and other community and political figures.

”The Kokoro-Abu Road will be rebuilt to world-class standard, to end flooding, ease traffic, and improve daily life,” Benson declared, stressing it was one of his many constituency interventions.
Prince Ladega described the road as residents’ “persistent nightmare,” recalling how voters had begged for its repair during campaign visits.
”True to his words, Rep. Benson has delivered again. He is indeed a promise keeper,” Ladega affirmed.
For Apanishile, the project adds to Benson’s rising record of infrastructural triumphs, from the completed Adamo–Olorunda Road to new works slated for Agbede Road and Ogunleye Drive.
Stakeholders say the upgrade will not only decongest traffic but also boost commerce, ease school runs, and quicken access to hospitals in the axis.
Once complete, the project is expected to stand as yet another legacy stamp of Benson’s responsive lawmaking and his pledge to lift Ikorodu through concrete action.
